Matter - Matter is all around us everything that exists in the universe is made up of matter - from the tiny insects, to the most distant stars in the sky.

Gravity - It is said that about 300 years ago an apple fell from a tree on to the head of Isaac Newton, the great English scientist. Newton knew that the apple fell because of the pull of the Earth's gravity

Atoms - Everything is made of atoms - the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the things we use.

Magnetism - Magnets are usually made of iron or steel. Pieces of metal, like small nails and pins, stick to them as though they are glued.Magnets are made in factories,

Radioactivity - The Nuclei of some atoms are radioactive. This means that they are unstable and will break-up over time. Most elements have unstable forms and are called radioisotopes. As they break-up they give out three types of radiation: alpha, beta and gamma rays.

Elements - The Ancient Greek philosophers believed that there were just four elements: earth, fire, air and water. An element is a substance made only of one kind of atom.
