Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia is credited with bringing about the official observance of Mother's Day. Her campaign to establish such a holiday began as a remembrance of her mother, who died in 1905 and who had, in the late 19th century, tried to establish "Mother's Friendship Days" as a way to heal the scars of the Civil War.

Mothers Day is today observed on the 13th of May in America and many other countries of the world.

Mother

God took the fragrance of a flower
The majesty of a tree
The gentleness of morning dew
The calm of a quiet sea
The beauty of the twilight hour
The soul of a starry night
The laughter of the rippling brook
The grace of a bird in flight
The tender care of an angel
The faith of the mustard seed
The patience of eternity
The depth of a family’s need
Then God fashioned from these things,
A creation like no other,
And when his masterpiece was through
He called it simply: MOTHER.

Mother's Love

Everything a mother touches in her loving way
Blossoms with her tender care and brightens day by day….
That’s why we bring her all our hopes our disappointments, too,
Knowing of her special knack for helping dreams come true…
Maybe it’s a word she says that makes the sunshine start,
Maybe it’s her endless faith that really warms the heart
We may not know just what it is
That makes her mean so much,
But everyday we Thank God,
for her loving “mother’s touch.”

"You never get anything right," complained the teacher.
"What kind of job do you think you'll get when you leave school?" "Well I want to be the weather girl on T.V."
